Photo Friday: Are We There Yet??

Happy Friday!!!!!  (In my head it was said in a Frost the Snowman voice.  Ya know, like in the movie: Happy Birthday!)  This is a great Friday, but it is also going to be one of the longest ones of the year.  Don't you hate how the Friday before vacation draaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaags on and on and on and on and on..... Are we there yet??? Is it time to go on vacation yet???

Clearly, I am so beyond ready to be on vacation.  For those of you who follow me on Instagram or Twitter know that I have been sick all week.  It got really bad Wednesday and Thursday.  Today is only moderately bad.

So now I look like this:

If you have never been around me sick, then you haven't had the pleasure of hearing my loud HOOONK of a nose blowing.  It happens quite frequently and leaves me with a red and raw nose. Which then peels. It is a blast.   And I am really attractive.

Fortunately, our Winter Snow Storm we were suppose to get yesterday only ended up looking like thi:

I wasn't really in the mood to shovel anyway.  Although for the record, the hubby promised when we bought a house that I wouldn't have to shovel.  We will see how that actually goes whenever we finally get some real snow.

Fortunately, my dad sent me a picture this morning.  Up north got lots of snow!  So it will be a white Christmas and we will have plenty of snow to play in!

Have a great weekend!!

Weekend Update: Sneaky & Sick

Is anyone else jumping back and forth between feeling sick and healthy?  I feel like I have been doing this dance for over a week now.  And today is no exception.  I just want to be at home curled up in bed.  But there are too many other things to get done so oh well!

Friday I had back to back office parties.  I had mine during the day, and then Friday night we had the hubby's office party.  Fortunately or unfortunately, I did not hear about the shooting until after my office party.  This is totally going off on a tangent, but I wanted to post this in case you haven't seen it floating around on Facebook.  It made me bawl my eyes out, so fair warning, but it is such a great message that I had to share.

Twas' 11 days before Christmas, around 9:38 when 20 beautiful children stormed through heaven's gate. their smiles were contagious, their laughter filled the air. they could hardly believe all the beauty they saw there. they were filled with such joy, they didn't know what to say. they remembered nothing of what had happened earlier that day. "where are we?" asked a little girl, as quiet as a mous
e. "this is heaven." declared a small boy. "we're spending Christmas at God's house." when what to their wondering eyes did appear, but Jesus, their savior, the children gathered near. He looked at them and smiled, and they smiled just the same. then He opened His arms and He called them by name. and in that moment was joy, that only heaven can bring those children all flew into the arms of their King and as they lingered in the warmth of His embrace, one small girl turned and looked at Jesus' face. and as if He could read all the questions she had He gently whispered to her, "I'll take care of mom and dad." then He looked down on earth, the world far below He saw all of the hurt, the sorrow, and woe then He closed His eyes and He outstretched His hand, "Let My power and presence re-enter this land!" "may this country be delivered from the hands of fools" "I'm taking back my nation. I'm taking back my schools!" then He and the children stood up without a sound. "come now my children, let me show you around." excitement filled the space, some skipped and some ran. all displaying enthusiasm that only a small child can. and i heard Him proclaim as He walked out of sight, "in the midst of this darkness, I AM STILL THE LIGHT."

Anyway, back to my weekend, because let's be honest, after reading that you really care.  I busted out my favorite piece of holiday bling for all of the Christmas parties this weekend.

It's from the Kate Spade Outlet for those of you who are curious.

Saturday I slept in and woke up with a sore throat, feeling achy and just generally yucky.  No bueno.  We were suppose to go to Madison for our annual Water Ski Team Christmas party.  And I just couldn't do it.  For those of you who know me IRL (in real life), you know that I don't ever miss things like that.  I am very much a You Only Live Once or I can sleep when I'm dead type person.  Except at some point I started to feel old.  And tired.  And this weekend, it was just too much.  And I knew I wouldn't have a chance at being healthy if I went.  So we stayed home. But that didn't mean that Saturday was quiet however.  Because we got to be sneaky.

Two of my hubby's good friends from college have been dating for forever.  Last week, he got a phone call.  The phone call.  The hey I'm going to propose to my girlfriend of forever next weekend, can you take pictures?  And OF COURSE we agreed to help.  Sickness or not, we were going to take pictures.  Well....really I took video.  The hubby took the pictures.  So we drove into the city, in the rain, to Lincoln Park Zoo, to take photos.  The Zoo puts up some AMAZING Christmas lights this time of year.  I had no idea.

Even though being out in the rain and the cold was totally worth it, I'm pretty sure it didn't have any amazing health benefits.  Oh well.  She said yes!  They are engaged!  And we couldn't be happier for them.  It was such an honor to be a small part of it. And it was so much fun.  So after popping open some bubbly in the zoo, toasting, and taking a few more photos they continued on with their evening and we went home to watch a movie and go to bed.

Sunday was the Bears vs Packers game.  We are a house divided.  Needless to say, I really like when my team wins.

How was your weekend?

AIM Love

First of all, I have to give COMPLETE credit for the idea of this post to my girl Sami over at Sami's Shananigans and her post.  I started reading it and immediately though, OMG I have to blog about this!

I love the holiday season for many reasons.  The lights, the decorations, spending time with my family, Christmas music.  Other than summer and 4th of July, it is my favorite time of year.  Almost two years ago, I got to add one more reason to love Christmas to the list. December 24, 2010.  Christmas Eve Day.  My adorable hubby (then boyfriend) popped THE question.

Six months later, we got married.  You can see wedding photos here and here.  (This just made me realized I started posting wedding photos and never finished.  Whoops.)

I owe my wedding day to AIM.  Yes, you heard me right. AOL Instant Messenger.  And I'm only partially joking.  Because OBVIOUSLY I owe my wedding day to a lot more than AIM, but back in the day before cell phones, Skype, Facetime, etc. AIM was da bomb digity. Yo.  It was a great way to keep in touch with a cute lil 14 year old who lived on the other side of the country from me.

For those of you who don't know, a quick re-cap.  The hubby and I met because our families have lake homes on the same chain in Wisconsin.  We've known each other since we were kids.  But we lived on opposite sides of the country (I grew up in Miami, FL he grew up in Illinois).  We only saw each other in the summer time.  Thanks to AIM, we were able to keep in touch throughout the rest of the year and post silly away messages at each other.

With technology struggles like this it is amazing we ever made it to talking down the aisle!

So after years and years and years of AIMing, texting, MySpacing, Facebooking and Gmail chatting, we finally lived in the same place and well....the rest is history.  Thank you AIM for making my marriage possible.  I owe you one.

Weekend Update: TSO and Wii

This weekend we were half old boring married couple and half Hey, we can still hang! married couple.

On Saturday, we saw Transiberian Orchestra.  And they were AMAZING!!!!!  Here are a few photo I snapped with my phone, but stay tuned for this week's Photo Friday!  Because the hubby brought my good camera and took some AMAZING photos!

We also were an old married couple and spent quite a bit of time playing with our new Wii this weekend.  It is our Christmas present to each other.  My hubby even surprised me with a pink remote.

I managed to kick his booty at Wakeboarding.  In real life, my hubby is an incredible wakeboarder.  And I. AM. NOT.   Needless to say, it was pretty fun to beat him over and over and over again.  Until he figure out how to score more points.  Now I have my work cut out for me.  Gotta keep my virtual edge!

On Sunday, I went to a local movie theatre for the Thirty-One Spring Product Premier.  Those of you Thirty-One lovers out there, get excited!  The new Spring Catalog is AMAZING!!!!!  It was pretty cool to see Thirty-One up on the big screen!

That was our weekend in a nutshell.  I now have several loads of laundry waiting for me at home, along with a huge To-Do list of things I didn't get done, including mailing out Christmas cards.  This weekend flew by way too quickly!

How was yours?

BTW, I'm linking up with:

Photo Friday: Getting Healthy

This week has been a good week health wise!  We are eating no-carb/Phase 1 of the South Beach Diet (with a few exceptions) until Christmas.  And this week hasn't been horrible.  Have I had my moments of weakness, absolutely.  But so far so good.  I am going to try a few yummy looking recipes I found on Pinterest this weekend, so I will let you know how they go.

After I work out this afternoon, I will have gotten 4 solid work outs this week.  My energy levels are WAY up and I am feeling good.  And yes, Glee does make treadmill workouts MUCH easier!

Thank you hot tub.  You are keeping my stiffness and soreness at a manageable level.

Good, bad or otherwise, I am not weighing myself anytime soon.  I am well aware that I am the heaviest I have ever been.  And I see no reason to know what the number is.  I also see no reason to discourage myself when, after days of hard work, the scale only moves a pound or two.  I am going to take the small victories, like my rings being loose again.  And the fact that I feel lighter.  When I've dropped a size, I will let you know.

Because the reality is, I just want to be back in all of old clothes.  The ones that say 8 on the tag instead of a much larger number.  The ones that I feel great and confident in again.  The ones that I like my body in.  That is the only number's game I'm going to play. I really don't care how much I weigh as long as I fit back into my clothes.  Because they are really cute.  And I miss them.

Happy Friday!  If you have any weight loss or fitness goals, I'd love you to share.  Because it is so much easier when we all support each other!

Have a great weekend!

ps- if you haven't yet, you should check out my very first giveaway!  It ends at midnight tomorrow night.

Thirty-One Giveaway & Discount!

I usually don't do shameless plugs for my own business on here, but in the spirit of the Christmas season, I thought I would do my first giveaway!  I recently did one for my customers in my Thirty-One Facebook group, so I thought, why shouldn't I do one for my blog readers! (If you want to see monthly specials, contests, etc. feel free to join the group by clicking here.)

What is Thirty-One you might be asking yourself?  It is an affordable line of purses, totes, utility bags and home organization products that are SUPER cute AND (my favorite part) you can have them personalized.  And since we all know, I love all things monogrammed, this company was right up my alley.

Here is what is up for grabs:

The Medium Utility Tote has a retail value of $30 and (as you can see above) is quite handy for hauling around your holiday goodies in!

You can enter the contest until Midnight (central time) December 8th. (Saturday night)

Oh, How Pinteresting: Christmas Wish List

Like A lot of other people (I'm sure), I have a Pinterest Wish List board.  In theory, family and friends could use this to pick out Christmas presents for me.  No idea if they actually will, but they could.  I guess I will find out on Christmas morning.  Here are some of the things I am hoping to find under the Christmas tree.

Weekend Update: Ugly Christmas Sweaters

We had a great time up north this past weekend!  Those of you who have been reading this blog for awhile know, we spend A LOT of time up north at our lake house.  This fall, between packing, moving and unpacking we've been neglecting the lake and our friends up there.  So we decided to head up for a quick trip this weekend.

It was a nice quiet weekend.  A little chilly, a little misty and it had a WHOLE LOTTA ugly Christmas sweater action.

With a day that looked like this, wrapping Christmas presents seemed like a good idea.

Then came the party on Saturday night.  Our BFF's at the lake were nice enough to let us tag along.  We made some fabulous new friends in Ugly Christmas Sweaters.

The jacket is my sister-in-law's (thanks Steph for letting us borrow it!  Oh right you are probably just finding out now we did...whoops!) from middle school.  It has a battery pack and lights up.  No joke.  It came from Nordstrom.

Christmas nightie with reindeer all over it and socks.

Our new fun friends!

Sunday was a quiet day before heading home.  Buoy felt the need to keep an eye on the front door at all times.  Just in case an some sort of animal decided to come on in.

Do you have any ugly sweater Christmas parties coming up?  I would love to see what your are wearing!
