Photo Friday: Playing Catch Up

I am not a fan of weeks after long weekend, holidays, vacation, etc.  It is so hard to get back into the swing of things when all I want to be doing is sleeping in.  So yay it is Friday!  Since I kinda took a bloggie break accidentally because of Thanksgiving, let's play some photo catch up!

My parents flew in to see us and our new house before we drove to Milwaukee to spend Thanksgiving with my aunt and uncle.  It was a fabulous, relaxing weekend.  We have started this great tradition of having stone crabs for dinner on Wednesday night.  I make Key Lime Pie for dessert every year.  It is one of the few things that I make well.  Thursday we had a quiet day full of sleeping in, walking and playing with the dogs, reading and eating.

Somehow the only pictures I managed to take from the weekend were of the dogs.  But who am I kidding, those are the only pictures you guys are really interested in seeing anyway, right?

Buoy and Missy are now BFF's which is AMAZING!

But after several days of non-stop playing, even Buoy was tired.

The annual post-turkey nap on the floor.

This week there was a lot of working out!  Which is a good thing, but man am I sore!  I picked up this sweet new work out toy up on Craigs List and so far I LOVE it!  It's called Fluidity.  It's kind of like Bar Method if any of you have ever tried that.  But MUCH cheaper to do it in your own home!  I have the Bar Method dvds in addition to several ballet style work outs, so I don't think I will be bored any time soon.

In addition to Fluidity, I also spent time on our treadmill.  I'm sort of doing Couch to 5k.  I will start the program for real one of these days, but right now I'm just doing what I can to start getting back into shape.

My ultimate game plan: to do Couch to 5k 3 days a week and to do Fluidity (which is a lot of strength training) 2x a week.  Anyone need an accountability buddy?

Happy Friday!  Have a great weekend!

Oh, How Pinteresting: Work Out

Maybe it was all the yummy turkey I ate over the weekend (btw Happy Thanksgiving everybody!), or maybe it was taking family pictures and getting a big fat (literally) dose of reality about how big I have gotten but I have made the long overdue decision that it is time to get back into shape.  I used to be at the gym 4-5 days a week.  Now I am sitting on the couch, stuffing my face and having one too many glasses of wine during the week.  Or I've yo-yo dieted and we all know how well that goes.  It's been fun, but it's time to find the balance again.

Plus, if I put it out there in the bloggy world, then I you to hold me accountable, right?  Right.  So, I've been pinning work outs.  I'm not waiting for the New Year to make a resolution, I've started now.  I've worked out the last 2 days (yay!) and will get in at least 2 more work outs this week.

Weekend Update: Christmas Decorating

Sorry to all you haters people who think that Christmas decorating should happen after Thanksgiving.  In a perfect world, I would agree with you.  But December is just too darn busy to find the time to decorate.  Hence why we begin the weekend before Thanksgiving.  We aren't completely done, but the majority of our Christmas decorations are up and I LOVE IT!!!!!  I can't wait to sit in front of a fire, with a hot cup of apple cider (or hot chocolate, your choice) and enjoy the glow from our tree.  OBVIOUSLY, I was super excited about putting all my Pinterest inspiration to good use and decorate our new home for the first time.

So that was our weekend.  Cleaning, laundry and having our nieces over for a sleepover and some Christmas decorating.  It was a win-win.  Having kids over = me getting to watch movies from my childhood that it would otherwise look a little funny if I watched (aka Rainbow Brite) and eat ice cream sundaes.  Oh, and if you want play by play action, you can follow me on Instagram.

What did you do this weekend?  Have a great (short) week!!!

Photo Friday: A Friday Celebration

Holy Cow it's Friday!  Man did that sneak up on me.  I thought all day yesterday it was Wednesday.  And I am NOT complaining!!!  It was such a busy work week, I didn't take many photos.  So how about we all do a happy dance that it is Friday!!!!  (Be grateful I didn't post a video of mine.  I have a happy dance.  The hubby says it is embarrassing.  Pssssssh what does he know.)

Oh, How Pinteresting: A Christmas Edition

Guilty.  I will be the first to admit it.  I am guilty of being one of these people who decorates for Christmas before Thanksgiving.  And I'm not ashamed of it!  December is such a whirlwind of chaos, if I waited until then to decorate, I mine as well not not even bother.  I love being ready to rock when we come home from Thanksgiving weekend.  I can blast Christmas music, wrap presents, enjoy cider or wine by the glow of our tree.  I can actually find a minute or two to just sit and enjoy the Christmas season.

Decorating for Christmas this year is going to be even more special now that we are in our house!  (Notice I did not say now that we are settled into our new house.  Talk to me in 2014.  We might be done unpacking.)  This weekend the decorating will begin!  And we will be tackling TWO Christmas trees this year.  One will be in our family room and be (what I think of as) the cozy tree.  Colored lights and a mishmash of ornaments from when we were kids and ones that we have collected over the years.  That tree is like an old friend, full of memories.

We are also going to put up a more formal tree in our living room.  And since that room has a teal accent, we though it would be fun to do a teal, peacocky themed tree in the living room.  Thank you 50% off Christmas at Hobby Lobby!  (Run don't walk.)  So.  I have been pinning up a storm of Christmas decorating ideas for our new house!  Some are teal and some are not, but they all scream "The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear!" (name that movie!)

Weekend Update: I'm Still Recovering

Happy Tuesday everyone!  My weekend was such a whirlwind of craziness and fun that I was still recovering yesterday.  So here I am writing a post today.  Friday started like this:

And ended like this:

After one glass of wine, when I tried to go to bed, the hubby brought me a beer and a puppy to enjoy while I got comfy.  Then the puppy wanted my beer.  And as we all know, what the puppy wants, the puppy gets.

Speaking of Buoy (this is going out of order) he turned 2 on Sunday!  I'm a bad mama and didn't realize that Sunday was 11/11 and his birthday!  So needless to say, we didn't really celebrate.  But he is getting an ice cream treat at doggie day camp today.  So hopefully that makes up for it.

Here is a photo from his 1st birthday to enjoy since I didn't get him a party hat this year. Bad mama.

After getting a good night sleep on Friday night, Saturday was spent buying Christmas decorations (stay tuned) and then going wedding dress shopping with my sister-in-law.  She and her boyfriend fiance got engaged a few weeks ago.  She came into town this weekend and was nice enough to let me join in the fun!  The only picture I'm going to share with you are the cocktails we had to celebrate after she found her dress!  (Sorry you won't find any spoiler alerts here!)

Saturday night we had a dinner party with a bunch of the hubby's friends from college.  We stayed up way to late and drank way too much, totally ruining my Friday night of sleep.  And totally worth it.  Minus feeling like C.R.A.P. on Sunday.  I sometimes forget I'm too old to do these things.  Whoops.    But the food was yummy and a good time was had by all.

And the gorgeous flowers my hubby picked up are still around to enjoy.

How was your weekend?

Oh, How Pinteresting: Recipes for this Weekend

We are having a bunch of people over this weekend for dinner so I have been pursuing Pinterest for some inspiration on what to serve.  It's suppose to be pretty warm out on Saturday so I am thinking the hubby should grill something and maybe, just maybe, we will get a chance to use our fire pit for the first time.

This menu is proving a little bit challenging for me.  One of the girls coming over is Dairy Free.  I don't mind catering to peoples diets at all becuase I have food allergies too and don't eat a lot of meat.  But boy looking for Dairy Free options is making me realize how much dairy is in my diet.  Specifically cheese.  Looooooove me some cheese.
