One of the biggest challenges we are facing is making rooms do double and triple duty. We have a good amount of space for just the two of us and Buoy, but it is amazing how quickly this house is filling up. Well mentally anyway. A big priority for me to have a dedicated guest room. Which may not sound like the best idea in the world, because it is a bedroom that will sit empty fairly often, but hear me out. I WANT PEOPLE TO COME VISIT! (yes, that means YOU friend reading this post). We don't have that many local friends. So I want those who have to hop in a car to see us (and vice versa) to WANT to hop in the car to come see us. I want them to feel comfortable being in our home. And we are maybe, just maybe almost out of the air-mattress phase of our lives. Unless lots of you come at once (yes, please), because then I make no promises.
You know you want to come visit after seeing our backyard.
So. Because of this, our third bedroom is going to have to be my office/daybed for more guests/thirty-one storage/whatever else we decided to squeeze in there. And let me tell you, this room is not all that big. I have picked out WAY too much furniture for it, but here is what I am thinking....
This is the daybed I am thinking about. The drawer space provides extra storage for the room and maybe, just maybe I might leave one empty. Ya know in case a guest actually wants to use it.
I am loving this nightstand. It is small so it won't take up too much space, and I can put a cute lamp on it.
For a dresser/something for more storage and a cute space to decorate or put a TV on, I'm thinking about one of these. It kind of depends on space and what will actually fit.

I still have no idea what to do about a desk. This room will likely become a nursery at some point. (Did I just admit that out loud? Don't get your hopes up. It is still going to be awhile.) Hence the white furniture. Easy to work with. So I want something that can be re-located to another room if it needs to be down the road. (Don't ask me where the daybed would go. We probably don't even really need it. But I really like it).
Going in a completely different direction, I could go with a work station like this:
HELP!!!! What do you guys do for rooms that have to have a lot of different functions?
And yes, for some reason I have an IKEA obsession for this particular room. Don't ask me why. And yes I promise I will be adding color. And lots of it.

See? A lil pink, a lil black and white damask and this room is going to come to life! Whenever I finally figure out what it is we are going to do with it.

I can't wait to see more pics of your house! So jealous of that backyard of yours. AMAZING! And I love that white Expedit work station! I have an office/craft room, but we are now making our guest room double duty as an office for my hubby as he will now be working from home a lot. That looks like the perfect solution!
