Photo Friday - Father's Day

It's Father's Day this weekend.  Unfortunately, my dad lives on the other side of the country from me, so I won't get to celebrate with him this year.  I was a good daughter and on my A-game this year.  (Which doesn't happen every year).  I had his card and gift ready to give to him Memorial Day weekend, when we were together.  So I thought, in honor of Father's Day, I would post a few "photos" about dads and my Dad in particular, who will eventually discover this post because my Mom reads my blog.  And she will tell him to read it.  Thanks Mom!

I am a Daddy's girl (and a Mommy's girl.....what can I say, I have a great relationship with my parents).  Have been since I was "little and cute."

My Dad taught me at a young age that All Men Are Pigs.  He even wrote a song about it and would sing it to me quite often growing up.  Often, it was performed as a duet with one of my "other-fathers."  So Dad....

someecards.com - Happy Father's Day to someone who knew long before me that all the boys I brought home were jerks.

Eventually, I found a guy who less of a pig and jerk than the rest.  And I do stress eventually.  (Love you hubby).  And my Daddy was there to walk me down the aisle.

And dance with me.

I think all dads are afraid of the day their daughter gets married.  After all, they are (usually) the ones who have to pay for it!  In true daughter fashion, I have always tended to be the more "expensive" child.  What can I say?  I like to shop, among other expensive habits.  A year ago this would have been me:

someecards.com - I'd be honored to buy you a Father's Day meal with the credit card you pay for

But not today!  So Happy Father's Day Dad! Your credit card is starting to collect cobwebs in my wallet.

And since I know my dad is DYING for grand kids (he thinks he is being subtle when he hints. HA!), I thought this was very appropriate:

someecards.com - Dad, I promise to one day give you grandchildren who annoy me as much as I annoyed you.

Even though we all know I was the perfect child.<wink wink> Right Dad?

Happy Father's Day Daddy!  I love you very much!

My 5 Mulligans

Hello eye candy!  What a great Listable Life this week!  5 people I could fall in love with.  TV Stars?  Movie Stars?  Sports Stars?  Fictional character?  The sky is the limit!  Because this week, I get to live in a fantasy world (at least for the length of this post) where my spouse doesn't exist and I get to pick any 5 guys I want!  In our house, we call them "mulligans" (as in golf).  As in, you get one free-be.  Except this time it is 5 free-be's!  Woo hoo!

1).  Patrick Sharp

Yuuuummy!!!  For those of you who don't follow sports, or hockey, or Chicago hockey, he plays for the Blackhawks.

2).  Christian Bale

Not this Christian Bale.

This Christian Bale.

Yes it's my fantasy world, so I will be as picky and specific as I want to be.  Especially because how much do you not love his character Laurie?  (If you don't know who I'm talking about, go read Little Women.  Now.)   Oooooh or Newsies Christian Bale!  Now we are talking.  A cute guy who can sing and dance.

3).  Speaking of guys who can sing and dance, I have recently discovered Glee on Netflix.  What took me so long, who knows.  I was clearly meant to watch this show! Matthew Morrison, Will Schuester, whatever your name is.  You are on my list!

4).  I have been on an Netflix kick lately, with shows I watched a zillion years ago.  Seaquest was one of the show I rediscovered.  Well...the first season anyway.  After that, I realized why the show was eventually cancelled. (But the first season was really good!)  One of my childhood crushes was on the show.  Sadly, he has since passed away.  But man was I COMPLETELY head-over-heels for him.  Jonathan Brandis.

5).  Michael Vartan

I am now officially drooling.  And I would totally go for his character in Alias.

Boy was this week's list fun!!! I think I have a "type."  Most of them resemble my husband when he was younger, with longer hair.  Don't ya think?

Who would your Mulligans be in your fantasy world?

Photo Friday - Fun Things That Arrive in the Mail

Anyone who knows me, knows I am the queen of online shopping.  And not just online shopping, bargain online shopping.  I love finding a good deal.  But I hate to dig through racks, etc to find them.  Stick me in front of a computer and I am good to go!  My favorite part about online shopping?  When the package arrives at your door.  It's like Christmas!  So I thought I would post some pictures of the fun things that have arrived at our door in the last few weeks.

I have been in love with this rug for quite some time.  I saw it here, and knew I had to have it.  And then YAY along comes Pinterest....

So my amazing husband, noticed the really reasonable price tag on this rug and bought it for me as part of my birthday present back in April.  Even though we have no where to currently put it, it doesn't take up much storage space, and it WILL have a home eventually.  As soon as we find a house to buy.  The rug was back ordered until recently.  AND IT FINALLY ARRIVED last week.  Of course, I immediately unrolled it to check it out.  Which meant Buoy had to immediately checked it out too.

Because clearly he had to make sure it was going to be an acceptable play space.  (In case you can't tell, that is what is left of the rawhide bone he was playing with down near the left hand corner)  He also did some scratching and "nesting" on it, to make sure it was juuuuuust right.  Maybe we need to order one for him?

And speaking of Buoy........

Come on, you know I had to.  He is just so cute.  (By the way, I have completely gone into denial about losing Sassy.  Until I talk to someone about her.  Then I cry.  A lot.  So for your own sake, I'm avoiding thinking or talking about Sassy right now.)

Back to fun things that arrive in the mail.  This week, I came home to this!

Yay for Thirty-One boxes!  Most of what was in these boxes were gifts for other people, but I did manage to sneak in a little something-something for myself. (Ok, it was the June special, so it was only $5...well $12 with monogramming.)

You know you would have done the same.

Have you had anything fun arrive in the mail lately?   Have a great weekend!

5 Things I Do Each Week

This week's Listable Life is all about weekly routine.  We all do so many things each week that they all kind of blur together.  At least for me they do. So what 5 things do I every week?  Well...

1).  Hit Snooze.

Yeah....this one happens almost daily.

2).  Drink copious amount of coffee.

Everything before #2 really is a blur in the mornings, and one that doesn't come into focus until those precious drops of caffeine hit my blood stream and wake me up.

3).  Run errands at lunch.

I really like to get out of the office when I can.  It's nice to get a break and in the summer months, it is really nice to be out in the warmth of the sun for a few minutes.  And I REALLY hate running errands on weekends.  There are just WAY too many people out.  Everything seems to take twice as long.  So every week, I try to run as many errands as I possibly can over my lunch breaks.

I may or may not frequent Target a little too often when I run errands.

4).  Take Buoy for walks.

I would love to say we walk Buoy every single day, but usually it more like a few times a week.  On the other days, we take him to doggie day camp and he runs himself around to the point of exhaustion.  It's great.  But we do walk him several times a week.  Buoy LOVES to go for walks.  And I think even more than going for walks, he loves coming home and getting into his pool.  Especially this time of year, when it is hot out.

5).  Stay Up Too Late Reading.

I've always liked to read.  The last couple of years it has come and gone in waves, depending on whether or not I have had a book to read.  Since the hubs got me a Kindle for Christmas, I stay up way too late reading at least once a week.  Having the ability to download a new book once I have finished reading one is fantastic!  Until it's after midnight and I am still awake.  Whoops.  But I am so glad I am reading a lot again.

What things do you do every week?

Photo Friday - Sassy

This week's photo Friday is not a happy one.  My parents dog, really our family dog, Sassy, passed away unexpectedly this week.  She was only 5.  We are all completely heart broken over losing her.  She was a tiny dog with a HUGE heart.  Sassy embodied the definition of unconditional love.  She loved her whole family with every ounce of her being.

Sassy loved boat rides, ATV rides, chasing lizards, barking at peacocks, snuggling by fire places, laying in the sun, then laying on the top step of the pool when she got too hot, curling up in your lap, snuggling, specifically on your arm so you couldn't do anything else but sit there and love her, sitting on your shoulder like a parrot (especially in the car), playing with her cousins, visiting Roxy and getting treats, running around on the frozen lake and in the woods, eating and playing with broccoli, giving kisses (sometimes up your nose)  and especially hanging out the window of my Dad's red Jeep, with the top down, going for a Sunday cruise with him.

She had the sweetest face and the most loving eyes.  So today, I thought I would share some pictures of Sassy (even though they are going to make all of us cry) and remember the Doodle Bug who will live in our hearts forever.
