1). Organize Our DVD Collection.
We have a ton of DVDs that are (for the most part) in baskets. And they are really cute baskets! (Sorry no pictures. I will take some before and afters when I actually tackle the project). But they take up a lot of valuable space. Space that could be used for other things.
The Plan: I got this idea from one of my favorite blogs, I Heart Organizing. I am going to buy DVD sleeves from Target and get rid of the cases. Because really who needs them anyway. This is one of those projects that could get a little pricey. Each set is $13.99 and only has 25 sleeves. I'd say we easily have over 100 DVDs. Hopefully I will find a coupon, or they will go on sale to save a bit. And I think I'm going to leave most of our TV Shows in their boxes. It will save some money and the movies take up a lot more space. And we have several bins and baskets that will hopefully work for storage and if not, HomeGoods is not far away!
I am constantly throwing my jewelry into a small bag for the weekend and leaving. It almost never makes its way back to its home. Then another weekend rolls around, and I only need part of the jewelry I had previously packed, plus a few other ideas. So I start another bag. Right now I have jewelry in 4-5 different bags/rolls, in my jewelry box, in a random drawer and in one of the 2 hanging organizers I bought for my closet. I will tackle my jewelry.
If I can get at least one of these done by next weekend, I will be really proud of myself. That might sound like a long time to get one project done, but you don't understand how much cleaning up and throwing stuff out needs to be done before any serious organizing can happen!
Wish me luck! Anyone else have a home organizing project going on? What about a spring cleaning project?
